Toronto Rehab
Rehabilitation saves life.
One in two Ontarians will be touched by disability—either personally or in their immediate family. That’s a staggering statistic.
At Toronto Rehab, it drives our efforts to find new and better solutions for people facing the disabling consequences of illness, injury and aging. We aim to help people regain their health and independence so they can live safely at home and in the community.
We believe it’s time to revolutionize rehabilitation by:
creating an approach that introduces rehabilitation in the emergency department and continues it at home, long after discharge from hospital
integrating care and research to create better therapies and assistive devices, and
raising the bar on how we educate the next generation of health care professionals and how we engage our own staff.
As one of Canada’s largest academic health sciences centres dedicated to adult rehabilitation, complex continuing care and long-term care and fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, we are uniquely qualified and eager to take on this challenge.
Revolutionizing rehabilitation. Maximizing life. At Toronto Rehab, we’re already on our way.
A leader in Spinal Cord Rehabilitation
Toronto Rehab’s Spinal Cord Rehabilitation program is the largest in Canada. We help people with spinal cord injury or disease to rebuild their lives. We help them to improve their function and mobility. We support them as they adapt to their new reality and provide them with the skills they need to safely return to home, school, work and the community.
Located at the hospital’s Lyndhurst Centre, the Spinal Cord Rehab program provides a full range of inpatient, outpatient and follow-up care, including a large number of specialized services. Our interprofessional team has extensive expertise in all aspects of spinal cord rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.
Toronto Rehab researchers are national and international leaders in areas such as bone health for spinal cord patients and the use of innovative technologies to restore function. We integrate the latest research into the care we provide and share our innovative interventions, clinical practices and technologies with rehabilitation providers across the country and around the world.
